In recent events, COVID-19 had raised-concerns regarding multiplying numbers of infected populations. As of 12 January 2021, 491,258 confirmed cases were registered in the Philippines. Fever is one of the most common symptoms of the virus that is why fever detection is obliged.
As of now, our technology has infrared thermal imaging. It is a non-contact, rapid, non-invasive, and non-destructive process monitoring device that provides object/material temperature mapping. This technology has created calculation methods that are more reliable and safer. However, infrared thermal imaging is costly. This research aims to create a low-cost imaging technology that can measure body temperature and still apply community social-distancing guidelines.
The researchers' materials to be used in this study are Raspberry pi 4B, MLX90640 thermal camera, DSI Screen. The MLX90640 provides a measuring of up to 1 meter in the distance. Aside from giving contactless measurement, the Raspberry pi-based project costs an estimate of 8,000PhP, much cheaper than the average thermal imaging kit sold in the market today.
CONCLUSION
Going through the five processes that Barron and Ivers formulated made me understand our research much better. I hope that we will be successful in creating a device that can help lessen the virus's spreading.
